What inspired the design of the items:
The design behind the items are meant to be accessible, empowering, and conversation starters. I have always found darker designs to be empowering and wanted to focus on contrast to tell a story. I knew I wanted the first two items to be mission driven yet not overpowering of the initial issue that inspired it. The name "THIS IS MY SPACESUIT." on a t-shirt or sweatshirt creates irony that gets people to share their own story of the mission when asked about it. The font used was the first ever font I used in a creative project when creating my first video project in middle school.
You were chosen to be on ProMazo’s list of Most Interesting Students for a reason. Do you have any advice for other students hoping to create their own success:
Start your own mission and find people to come along with you. You need to chase and explore your interests and support those who are looking to do the same. You are not defined by your major, internship, or past and have the ability to control the positive impact you want to have in the world.
Favorite quote:
I create various quotes that stay in my language for an ephemeral time period depending on where I am in my life. A previous one was "RUN IT." This quote was all about chasing something regardless of if you can or others think you are capable. I have unintentionally created these sayings but have seen the impact they have when used in my language and content I create.
Biggest role models or inspirations:
I am most inspired by the community around me at Cornell and others my age! Some students that have been a source of inspiration and creative freedom include some friends such as Caley Drooff, Christine Yang, Brendan Elliot, Tony Li, Sarah Turi!
Fun Fact:
I lived in Cape Town, South Africa last summer and had no connections there when I flew over and it became a place I treasure more than any other place I have been. Highly suggest putting yourself in situations that are unfamiliar and focus on experiences!
Favorite hobbies:
Since I was three my dad took me to concerts on his shoulders and I am still a live music fanatic. I have done a lot of concert photography in high school and previous years. My next thing I want to start is DJing!
Career path:
I am most passionate about building communities to empower people to believe in themselves and their creative superpowers and look forward to working on multidisciplinary work to chase this globally. I am currently working in Product Design, Fashion Design, Screenwriting, and Video Production to name a few and am excited for what I will try next!
