Wake Forest University
Before beginning her freshman year at Wake Forest University, Leah Wyrick created the "Resilience Bra" with the help of plastic surgeon Dr. Samuel Roy. When Leah was 15 years old, she watched her mother battle breast cancer and witnessed the challenges associated with post-mastectomy experiences.
Wanting to help, Leah envisioned the Resilience Bra, a better post-operative bra, tailor made for mastectomy, breast reconstruction, and other cosmetic surgery patients.
Within weeks of starting college, Leah was accepted into Wake Forest’s StartUp Lab – an entrepreneurship program that gave her the resources to officially launch her company, Three Strands Recovery Wear. Leah plans to distribute the Resilience Bra to private practices, eventually selling the bra in bulk to hospitals to give to cancer patients after surgery.
