What inspired your achievements:
I was brought up to believe that cumulative success is built on top of one generation after the other. And so, I think the biggest inspiration I have is everything my grandparents, and parents have done to get me to this point today. It’s like a big relay race and that’s inspiring to me.
You were chosen to be on ProMazo’s list of Most Interesting Students for a reason. Do you have any advice for other students hoping to create their own success:
I think the biggest challenge today for students might perhaps be the distorted illusion of success that the internet and social media in particular has created. It’s difficult in a world where it seems like everyone is portraying the best and most successful version of themselves all the time, to remain consistent in your pursuit and drive.
I’ve always really loved Steve Job’s outlook and perspective on life. He has one particular clip that I find particularly inspiring and that is “Life can be so much broader, once you discover one simple fact, and that is that everything around you that you call ‘life’ was made up by people who were no smarter than you. And you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use. Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.”
Biggest role models or inspirations:
I think Elon Musk is the most inspiring for me, simply because he doesn’t quit and sticks by what he stands for 100% until the end. I think that’s a very hard thing to do these days and few people actually do it.
I’m half-Chinese even though it really doesn’t look like it.
