FOR GIVING PICTURES PURPOSE:
With the help of his first-year roommate at the University of Virginia, Aneesh Dhawan founded PurPics, an app that connects students and brands over a good cause. The PurPics platform creates this partnership to empower users to raise money for the non-profits they care about simply by posting pictures. For example, every time a PurPic user gets a ‘like’ on an Instagram photo they post, they receive a 10-cent donation to a cause they care about. Thus far, PurPics has been hugely successful – working with over 30 different companies and 55+ campuses. Driving 10 times higher social media engagements than traditional marketing tactics, the innovative company has raised over $1.2 million for funding and was recently accepted into Techstars, an accelerator program that accepts less than 1% of startups.
