Wake Forest University
Before beginning her freshman year at Wake Forest University, Leah Wyrick created her product, the Resilience Bra, with the help of a plastic surgeon, Dr. Samuel Roy.  When Wyrick was 15 years old, she watched her mom battle breast cancer and witnessed various problems currently associated with post-mastectomy experiences. Wanting to help, Wyrick came up with the idea for the Resilience Bra, her invention of a better post-operative bra tailor-made for mastectomy, breast reconstruction, and other cosmetic surgery patients. Within weeks of starting college, Wyrick was accepted into Wake Forest University’s StartUp Lab – an entrepreneurship program that provided her necessary resources to officially start her company, Three Strands Recovery Wear. Wyrick plans to distribute the Resilience Bra to private practices, eventually selling the bra in bulk to hospitals to provide to cancer patients after surgery.
