Ashley Chu is a sophomore at the University of California, Berkeley studying electrical engineering and computer science. She is a proud Bay Area native who’s passionate about computer science education and sparking interests in STEM through her initiative She STEMs, an organization empowering students to feel confident and capable through code!
Chu founded She STEMs in late 2017 as a series of workshops at my local library with 15 students which later grew into a week-long summer program and a series of partnerships, amplifying She STEMs’ impact to reach over 200 girls by the end of 2019.
On campus, Chu is actively involved with engineering groups like the Association of Women in EE&CS as a mentorship officer and the Society of Women Engineers as an outreach officer.
Outside of college and her work with She STEMs, Chu enjoys all things art, food, and teaching. She is also a huge fan of the Best Dressed series on YouTube.
